The Golan Heights, Until really not many years ago, a no go area, and still considered an occupied territory by the UN. The Golan Heights taken from Syria in the 1960s is a very sparsely populated area of North Eastern Israel. Sadly we visited on a poor weather day, so photography was very limited. However the area is hauntingly beautiful... Oh yes and we saw a wild pig .. well actually we saw a wild pig's bottom as it ran away.. very very quickly.
You realise you are in the Golan Heights when you find the landmines...
and suddenly, in the middle of nowhere you find a stall... wonder how much he sold that day??
Despairing of ever finding some good weather to take a good photo we went for a hot chocolate.. I couldn't resist the camping shop window though, complete with presents sent from Hezbollah... I just hope they have been de-activated!
