Derby Day June 2nd 2007

As you can see we joined the masses on Epsom Downs for Derby Day, or was it to be Dettori day? the Hill was heaving, so we watched the big race from the slopes of Tattenham Corner. As the field sped past we had no idea that Authorized would win at all, let alone so comfortably, he was well down the field, with not many behind him! Frankie Dettori riding the winner of the 2007 Vodafone Derby, Authorized. He is pictured rounding Tattenham Corner well down the field. I just love Authorized's tongue, If you look closely you can see it flopping about as he runs!

All the horses coming to Tattenham Corner in the Vodafone Derby. Dettori is well down the field, in the green jumper and cap, just behind Strategic Prince carrying the yellow, white and black colours. Sadly I had left my camera on Landscape setting, so this picture is badly focussed. This is Frankie Dettori's ride in the Second race ' Bespoke Boy'. There wasn't much bespoke about him, he wasn't placed!

They're under Starter's Orders... and they're off. This is the start of the second race, the Vodafone Woodcote Stakes. A six furlong race for two year olds. We wandered down to the start and watched them load up the stalls and the start, very good fun, but all too fast for my camera! I love the look of determination on the jockey's faces!
