Our trip to Buckingham Palace 30 July 2007

They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace -
Christopher Robin went down with Alice.
Alice is marrying one of the guard.
"A soldier's life is terrible hard,"
Says Alice.

We saw a guard in a sentry-box.
"One of the sergeants looks after their socks,"
Says Alice.

We looked for the King, but he never came.
"Well, God take care of him, all the same,"
Says Alice.

They've great big parties inside the grounds.
"I wouldn't be King for a hundred pounds,"
Says Alice.

A face looked out, but it wasn't the King's.
"He's much too busy a-signing things,"
Says Alice.

"Do you think the King knows all about me?"
"Sure to, dear, but it's time for tea,"
Says Alice.

Queen Victora's Monument watches over the Palace. As she was the Monarch who first used the Palace as the Premier Residence of teh Royal Family, I guess she feels she has some right to keep an eye on all their comings and goings.

These are the lockplates of Buckingham Palace, think they would look just perfect on my front door what do you think?

The Unicorn and the Lion sit either side of the Main Gates at Buckingham Palace. The unicorn seems to have fared better than the lion, but then again it is a mythical creature and not just some King of the Jungle

This is the West Front. The 'Back Entrance' leading out onto Buckingham Palace's Gardens. Only the Royal Family could have a back door that is quite so grand!

This is the final view of the Palce on the way out overlooking the lake.

Obviously Her Majesty is a keen gardener as her grounds were wonderful. I am surprised she is able to go orf on holiday for quite so long over the Summer, she will have a heck of a lot of weeds when she gets back!!

I managed to get through the obligatory shop on the way out fairly successfully without too much of a dent in my wallet. However Little did I know there would be a Royal Ice Cream Van just be the Exit!
