I am not sure if Jersey has a national flower, but it really should be the agapanthus. These blue flowers grow all over the island, and were perfectly in full bloom during our week there.
It's always fun to go to St Aubin's Harbour. The boys prefer to go at low tide to walk across to the fort, but secretly I prefer high tide, because it looks so much prettier.
I first heard of Jersey from the TV show Bergerac, starring John Nettles. His local was 'Lil's Bar' which in reality is the Old Court House Inn in St Aubins. We always make sure we have a drink here, everytime we visit the island.
For years we stayed at Portelet Bay, probably the most lovely beach in the world. At high tide the 'island' (actually Janvrins Tomb - a captain caught Black Death out in Jersey Waters and was not allowed to be buried on the island, so was buried on this little rocky island. Luckily he has now been relocated!!) is just that an island, but at low tide you can easily walk across the causeway to explore.
The only reason we don't visit this beach more is the number of steps back to the top!!! Beware!! However this next beach needs no warning, St Brelade's Bay is huge, particularly at low tide when it is joined to Ouisane Bay. How beautiful is this??
St Ouen's Bay is a five mile beach and perfect for surfing. This was taken from Corbiere Lighthouse. . .

One of the first things you realise about Jersey is that during the Second World War the island was occupied by Nazi Germany. The island was heavily fortified and many of the bunkers and concrete gun placements have been preserved so the Islanders and their visitors never forget. . . This former bunker is now used as a radio station.
Even the animals on Jersey are the cutest.... How can cows look this good.... and how can Jersey people ever eat beef?????

Great photographs - thoroughly enjoyed looking at them. You've got a real talent!

Hey Anya,
You have a skill with a camera, no worries ! We have rented the concrete tower you think is still a Radio station in May 2008 - it is a self-catering holiday let appartment, and the view is - no words for it ! It's ugly from the outside, but once you climbed the top floor.... Jersey is great in any aspect, but that view tops it all !
