London Zoo - assorted animals 14 June 2007

The lavender was out in force at the zoo today and looked and smelt superb, wish I could do it justice!!! The sloth bears wer out playing, although they seemed shy and were keen to run away when they saw they had company, but then again maybe that was just me they didn't want to see.

The camels are so much more straightlaced than their northern cousins...

The giraffes are so beautiful and their raised viewing area makes it too enticing to stand there for hours snapping away.

Despite that we were the first ones in at 10am the lion was still asleep. However a small amount of wheedling (I am never ashamed to beg) made him open his eyes, even if he did not deign to wake up totally!

Decided that I had taken waaay too many penguin photos recently, so here is just the one... Think this was a stretchy yawn!

Into the reptile house, which is not my favourite place due to the preponderance of things that slither..... here is one who was photogenic...

Hurrah the tigers were unusually awake, however he was pacing furiously along the boundary fence. It is impossible to photograph him when he is this close to the fence so we were trying to trick him into going further away.. does that make sense? However when he realised what we were doing he dashed back at speed, making it almost impossible to photograph him anyway!!!
