Martin Mere

I can't believe this is the first blog of the year - My back is hurting so much that I rarely go out with my camera, although it is the processing that hurts, not the walking around. Still had a trip to Wigan and my aunt bullied me into taking these. I have processed them very fast as I am sitting on a big bouncy ball with lots of diclofenic inside me.... This wonderful place is of course the incomparable Martin Mere - there don't seem to be as many swans this year, and as ever the light was not good - what am I talking about?? The light was lovely - it was the photographer what was pants!!!!

Malta - Well OK Gozo really

On Monday we decided to step back in time and took the ferry over to Gozo. It is very different to malta, much quieter, much slower, much greener and much much better signposts on the roads!!

This gentleman sold us some delicious prickly Pear jam - astonishingly it takes faintly of marzipan and is very yummy. He also sold pammegranate jam and the trees are behind him

Malta - the Silent City

The City of Mdina is the Sient City - a remarkable place - you have to park outside as only residents are allowed a car inside the walls - Once you step inside the silence, the coolness are overwhelming. It is a beautiful place to visit

As everwhere else in malta the catholic Churches are the most important buildings in the town, and there are plenty of statues of the Madonna

we enjoyed the town we visited again the next day at dusk -

'TAXI' !!

Magnificent Malta

Oh my poor neglected blog, I have been a bad owner. I had a difficult summer, which culminated in a very bad back for a lot longer than I would have liked. Anyway we had a wonderful week in Malta in October and it was a dream to photograph - even my paltry attempts look pretty nice - everyone should visit - it is one of the most beautiful places in Europe

Not our hotel - but pretty reminiscent of many of the Maltese buildings

The buses are the BEST in teh world - they look cool, they turn up every few minutes, they drive at speed, and will take you miles for 50p

Maltese food seems a lot about octopus and rabbit - neither of which was overly appealing, but I still had to take a photo

we visited Malta 8 years ago, and stayed in Xemxia near St Paul's bay. The hotel was lovely but has now been closed down and it was sad to see it a building site. St Paul's Bay has been built up a lot since our visit, really I just took this photo to show Jen and Edward how it looks today

Two views from our hotel balcony
