Photography - success and failure in equal measures!

Do you remember a few weeks ago I posted that I had won photo of the week on a small photography forum called Shutternutters?? (Click here if you want to go see.. or even join!).. well trumpets sounds etc etc I won photo of the week for a second time with this photo of my Ice skating at Somerset House.. a narrow vicotry, but hey I beat off some stiff competition . .

However, if you think I am big headed, worry not.. my picture of the roundabout near the London Eye has been universally slated and brought me back to earth with a big fat thump!!

Add to that the fact that I have been unable to get out to take a single photo this weekend, and my photography life is a bit depressing! Never mind.. it's been nice to spend time with the boys instead.. Looking forward to next weekend!

Ice Skating in London

Firstly where it all began in the UK, at Somerset House.. home of the Inland Revenue. I thoroughly approve of all these outdoor rinks. as long as I am not the one being crippled by the naff boots of course. Apparantly there will be one in Battersea this year, in the ASDA carpark.. not quite the same is it?

and at possibly the most beautiful spot, the Natural History museum rink . . .

Romance lives in London

A walk around Westminster

Last night I had a lovely walk around London.. I walked around various places but this leg started at the Cenotaph looking at the poppies left on Remembrance Sunday last week, and thinking of fallen soldiers ove the past ninety years . . . . . see here for the picture. . . I then crossed Westminster bridge on my walk back to Waterloo station. . I have called the first photograph 'The long commute home'
Whereas these are just some tourists looking at the sights

For some reason I have never taken a photograph at night from this spot. the reflection on the water was lovely . . .

and then over to Hungerford Bridge, for a shot that you may have seen just once or twice before . . .

but my attention was taken by the merry-go-round. I was trying to stop the photograph from being too busy....but am very taken at the moment by movement in my photographs!!

i think the merry-go-round looks like it is about to take off in this picture..

and with christmas fast approaching I have been thinking of some christmas card shots. . .

Out and about in the wee small hours

Show me the way to go home . . .
I'm tired and I want to go to bed.
I had a little drink about an hour ago,
and it's gone right to my head . . .

The Glorious Dead

We remember you, ninety years on . . .

Not a womble in sight

Had a lovely walk on Wimbledon Common yesterday morning, hoping to catch the last of the autumn colour.... Not a womble to be seen sadly, but plenty of trees!!

Andy Warhol - eat your heart out

I love Andy warhol's work.. and particularly the Campbell's cream of Tomato Soup (which I am also quite fond of).. saw this in on the floor of a shop window on the Southbank and had to get down onto my tummy to take it...

From the desk of Anya Rowson

This was the view from my desk this morning.. well OK, this was the view if I swiveled my chair, lent over my desk and cricked my neck.. but it was worth it now, wasn't it??and if I leave my desk and climb down three flights of stairs, I am rewarded with lovely sights like this:

Took the boys to see Top Gear Live yesterday. This is their favourite TV programme at the moment and it was good to see the team live at earl's Court. i hadn't realised we could take photos so I only had my baby lens on the camera, so the photos are very poor.. but they capture a fun afternoon for me, Tom and Jamie

Fly Agaric
